The half-ogres are a race of refugees, mercenaries, sellswords, hirelings, and adventurers. Long ago, the hub of their races civilization was devastated by inner conflict and religious practices. Today, half-ogres are rare but welcome in most nations as laborers and able-bodies who work for the necessities of life.

Play a Half-ogre if you want…
to be a giant.
to be a reliable and enduring individual.
to be able to knock your foes off their feet.
to be a member of a race that favors the barbarian, fighter, and ranger classes.

PHYSICAL QUALITIES

Half-ogres average about 7½ feet in height and are very broad, weighing twice as much as an adult human. Half-ogres are very human-like when it comes to skin, eye, and hair pigmentation, although half-ogre skin is most commonly a grayish color and sometimes takes on a greenish hue. Male half-ogres are often bald and clean-shaved, regarding hair as a vanity that corrupts. Female half-ogres crop their hair short or wear it in uninteresting patterns.

Half-ogres reach physical maturity at approximately the same age as humans. Although they reach physical maturity at roughly the same age as humans, half-ogres age slower and remain fit well past 100 years of age, regarded as venerable around 150.

PLAYING A HALF-OGRE

Humble and simple in lifestyle, the gigants share many qualities with their giant ancestors. They are strong, reliable, and hard-working. They have very ascetic traditions, which they preserve through the ages as a reminder of the sins of their forefathers and the judgment it yielded.

Half-ogres believe in family ties and respecting ancestry. They hold their ancestors in the highest regard and understand that important lessons can be taken from the tales of those who came before them. Storytellers and sages have great value in their societies, and most are polite to elders of any race.

Half-ogres revere the natural world. They believe that overbuilding was one of the chief reasons their culture crumbled so many years ago. Despite this, they still have a hidden curiosity for the creations of other races. Some half-ogres even strive to create things of their own. They are rarely a people who put up their own cities or towns, but when they create permanent communities, they do so by first using what nature provides. Most half-ogre settlements are in caves or are carved in the rock itself. Half-ogres love, more than anything, to explore new lands, and it’s not unusual for individuals or small bands to wander hundreds of miles from their homelands for absolutely no reason at all.

Goliaths are mountain-dwelling nomads who see life as a grand competition. Their scattered bands have never been major players in the politics of the lowland world, but they have wandered the mountain ranges of the world since the primordials first shaped the peaks and valleys. Tall and massive, goliaths revere the primal power of nature and use it to enhance their own strength.
